Heads Up On Covert Cameras Issue in 2017

Just a heads up. In 2017 all the 2 D Coverts Black Ops will no longer work with sending photos to text. In 2017 you will need cameras with new 3D module. The new 3D cameras will be in Covert warehouse in about 2 weeks and will retail for 400 bucks. So looks like we have 3 years left on our 225.00 Black Ops coverts.

Are you talking about 2g and 3g service? I'm confused as usual.

its a module thats in the cam. In 2017 the 2D cams we all have will not work. You will need the 3D module. This is what the Covert people have confirmed. So enjoy them for the next 3 years. or sell them now and buy the new 3D ones that will be here in 2 weeks.....400 bucks. Not 3G its the new 3D module that will replace the 2D.

Maybe I'm way off base but I heard that AT&T is phasing out all their 2g devices and that will include the Covert Camera. Everything will be 3g once the transition is complete. Maybe we're talking about 2 different things?

I never heard of it either. ...just call Covert. They will explain it. I have heard these rumors lately about 2017 so I called and talked to the source. Its true. Our 2D module cameras will not send texts in 2017. You have to have the 3D module.

So wonder what will be the major difference be in new 3G cams as opposed to what we have? faster? sharper image? any idea?

According to Covert it will get better signal and send pictures faster. There won't be any increase in quality of pictures it send because it's already sending the maximum size picture it can. It is also supposed to improve battery life.

I'm curious if all AT&T customers are in 3g areas already. I wonder if there will be more "dead" spots than there are now when they make the transition. Will be interesting to see how it plays out. This was not a move made by Covert, it was made by AT&T and Covert just had to build a newer model camera so it would work. They were supposed to be released in March but as far as I know they are not on the market yet so that makes me think Covert ran into a snag with something.

This. Also if you happen to be in area that 2G is phased out before your 2G cam warranty is up Covert will swap out modules under warranty.
