It's not just bowhunting brother. I shot the only mature buck I saw last season at 30 yards with my rifle. Hit him 'perfectly', center punching him right behind the shoulder. To my horror, I found blood everywhere and jumped him twice but never found him.

Ain't doing that again.
Amazing how many headaches and heartbreaks a Rhinehart 18-1 can prevent.

Bingo!! Since I started doing this I realize how much a naked eye perfect shot isn't so perfect.
Keep at it amigo.

I assumed which you should never do that my exodus flew true in my FMJ'S like they did in my Bloodsport One's and old carbon Express Blue streaks.
Boy was I wrong!!! They fly horrible out of my FMJ'S....four to five inches to the right at 20 yards to be exact. Which explains the blood trail or the lack there of.
As much as know tune my bows I completely skipped something so important. I sure learned my lesson. Anyone else do this?
So your perfect lung shot wasn't so perfect after all? Kidding amigo!! Just jabbing you. Glad you found the problem.
I still recommend videoing if possible. Not only to check your shot before tracking but it makes the kill way more enjoyable when you can go back and see it happen again while at home.

Losing animals does suck. It shouldn't matter if it is a deer or pig. If it doesn't make you sick when it happens you don't deserve the privilege of hunting. It's okay to feel the way you do and we understand that. At some point though we all fail in an attempt at it. If you quit you never get to redeem yourself. You need to get back in the stand for yourself.

Nahhh. Keep shooting. I've lost quite a few critters bow hunting. Needless to say I was ticked for a while after each one but just kept trying. A couple years ago I felt like you do now. I lost a monster pig after a good shot. Followed good lung blood for 200 yards or more and then it just stopped. Found my arrow with blood all the way to the fletchings but no pig. A week or so later I shot a doe and watched her go down in the brush 40 yards away. Waited an hour then went to retrieve my prize. No luck. Found two halves of my arrow and a blood trail leading over the bank around the 20 acre pond. I searched for at least three hours poking around in the waist deep water. never found that deer either. I thought about giving up but went back anyway the next weekend. That is when I shot the first bobcat I ever saw in person at 7 yards right under my tripod.
Stick with it.
