    Timber Question

My family planted our place in Madison county with loblolly pine trees back in 1997. Now 4 acres need to be cleared for a pad site. It doesn't look like any loggers are willing to come out for such a small load and even if they did it doesn't look like any nearby mills would buy them. I thought I would ask the green screen if anybody knew of any outside the box ideas to get them cleared and sold. It seems like a waste to just cut them down and let them rot. Any suggestions would much appreciated.

Depending on the size of the timber. You may be able to sell it as pulpwood. There should be someone in your area that would know about that type thing.

If the whole place was planted in 97, then you have some decent sized trees. Has your place ever been thinned? Ask a logging company if they want to thin the rest of your acreage, and then clear the 4 acre site. They might be interested then.

We were looking at clearing the entire tract to coincide with the time the four acre pad site had to be cleared but that fell through. Now the four acres of pulpwood sized trees has to go.

how many total acres? 17 years in that area may be ready for a first thinning. Thin the entire tract and ask them to cut all of the 4 acres. Do it by the ton.

If this is for a well pad, doze and burn and send the company a bill for your trees.

              Try Boles logging in centerville.

I'll definitely look at boles logging. We have a forester and he has looked into getting the whole property thinned and selling the trees as pulpwood but cant seem to find any takers. I guess I was wondering if there was any other use someone might have for the 4 acres of trees besides selling them as pulpwood to a mill.
