    Springer's debut for the Astros

After .300 plus, 37 HR and 45 SB last year and a hot start in AAA this year, he'll finally make an appearance in Houston tonight. Too bad half the fans won't be able to see him. Expect high K numbers, but he hits for avg., power and gets on base. His OBP was well over .400 last year and this year. Besides Beltran's short stint, we haven't had a true 5 tool guy in a long time. I'm excited and the pipeline is full of guys tearing up the minors. More on the way soon.

      It's about time.

I'm still not happy about their penny pinching ways considering they could have brought him up to start the season.

As great as he was, I don't consider Biggio a 5 tool. He didn't have the arm and his power and speed were good, but not elite. Springer is big, strong and fast with a plus arm. Hopefully the bat he showed in AAA transfers at the major league level. It did not in spring training.

Agree! Biggio was not a 5 tool all around athlete.

It will take him some time but we can wait

Some prospect evaluators and scouts say that he is ready now for the majors but with him being only at high A ball currently the most likely scenario involves him finishing the year at triple A then once again being invited to spring training next year but to actually compete for a spot on the major league roster. Luhnow is not in favor of prospects skipping levels.

I cant wait for more and more of these guys to start hitting the roster. I keep wondering why Lucas Harrell is still taking up a spot in the rotation? It is only going to get better throughout this year. Of course, that doesnt say much.

He's in high-A Lancaster, which is the most hitter friendly environment in milb. He might be the second or third best pitching prospect on that team to Vincent Velasquez and Lance McCullers. Luhnow's model is to have prospects go through every level so I don't expect him until next year. AA Corpus this summer and then AAA to start next year. If all goes well he should be in Houston early to mid 2015. Velazquez is only 21 so he's probably a 2016 target, but if he keeps doing what he's doing in Lancaster he could force their hand sooner. 1.69 ERA through 4 starts.

Baseball America put out a top 10 most talented minor league teams. Lancaster was #1 and AAA OKC #3.

                              He Gone.

Designated for assignment last night and Robbie Grossman was optioned to AAA.
