      Depends on what profession, when I'm doing ADC work professionally old jeans and shirt, maybe a little skunk essence in the air. When I'm in the taxi shop "professionally" maybe some cargo shorts, t-shirt, sandals. I gave up the profession that required "Sunday go to meeting" dress codes.

          I'm with the majority above on the suit, but NICE boots are fine men's footwear in Texas.

          I wear my black cayman boots with a dark blue suit all the time, looks better than dress shoes and socks showing IMO.

          ^^^^Please note that this is my opinion and I don't ever plan to be on a job interview again,...but I do have to dress nicely and know that I'm being judged on my appearance.

            In my line of work Professional means nice steel toe boots, but like the rest probably a suit. I have a young engineer working with me that decided to start dressing to impress and he bought his clothes at the Goodwill store and they are nice. I would go check them out if'n you don't want to spend much.

                Profesional dress really depends on the industry and the company but my thinking is to wear a suit with dress shoes. Boots with anything= business casual in my mind.

                    Suit and tie with maybe a maroon dress shirt or tie I would think boots would be okay since we do live in Texas... But what would I know I get to wear jeans and T-shirts to work everyday

                      Suit and no boots. Just because we are in Texas doesn't mean the folks that make decisions are from Texas. The other 49 states don't necessarily have the same opinion of our footwear.

                        Suit = Professional Dress.

                          Yeah, professional dress is a conventional darker suit, conservative dress shirt worn with a tie, and shined dress shoes.

                            went and bought a suit last night, going today to get the pants hemmed, then off to dry cleaners. Its dark gray, with light gray pinstripes, with a blue shirt and tie. Thanks for the help everyone!

                              Sounds great! Make sure to bring the shoes you plan to wear with it to the alteration place so they can get the length right.

                                I will go against the majority here and say that there is nothing wrong with nice, shined-up boots with a suit. Shows character and will impress the right people.
