    Price of Limes!

The thread on the price of beef got me thinking about the price of limes. Have you noticed how high they are? I know I have. Us Mexicans use limes in everything. The article bellow spells out why the price is so high. Just like the article says Ive been in some mexican restaurants and asked for lime and I get lemons. Its getting to where you cant afford to enjoy anthing. I saw limes in a store here in Alabama yesterday at 2 for $1.29. That is just unamerican!

Marketplace raises the economic intelligence of the country through the unorthodox story, casual conversations and unexpected angles on the news.

No relief in sight here as well. Entire crop is gone this year. We are keeping all we can get at the restaurant to Mae margaritas with. Out cost (wholesale) is ocer 100.00 per case. Last year at this time I was paying 18.70. No limes with coronas or xx.

Blame it on global warming LOL! Noticed it last week so I bought a bag of Key Limes, less than 4 bucks, with a big HEB bottle of lime juice concentrate. It's an major issue for those who make fresh margaritas - the price at the bar has now exploded!

I noticed how ridiculously high there were last time I was in the store too. Ended up getting lime juice for drinks. Cutbacks everywhere.

Just guessing that those are small size limes that were 10 for a buck a few weeks ago. Either that or they don't know they are losing money on them yet. Most stores are selling them around cost or at a slight profit just because they are afraid that if they go too high on retails that people will quit buying them completely and will just incur loss due to spoilage. This happened a few years ago with lemons, but nobody cared because it didn't cut into their margaritas!

I love limes with soft tacos. My favorite resteraunt starting serving lemons instead of limes last week. I asked for a lime and they said they were not available. I know why now.

The cold winter killed my lime tree. Pulled it up this week when i was sure it didnt make it.

Yeah dont know how well lime trees will do in Katy. As soon as I buy a house I will have to get serious about planting one. I had one back in the Valley if not I could always count on family to hook me up. You just dont understand what this means to my people.

I guess it could be worse. I was in Norway two weeks ago and paid over $9 for a hotdog and two 12oz bottled drinks at a convienece store. If I remember correctly I saw some avacados and mangos for over $3 each while I was there.
