Need advice from someone familiar with Dallas

My daughter has some kind of volleyball tournament at the Dallas Convention Center. We will be coming from San Antonio and want to stay about an hour outside of Dallas heading back towards San Antonio. Where would be a good safe area to find a hotel in this area?

An hour because we do not want to stay near downtown. It does not necessarily have to be an hour but has to be headed back out of Dallas. Her team will not be playing this weekend. We are just going to the high performance try outs.

Reminds me of the "King of the Hill" episode when Hank,and Peggy were going to Dallas…Hank got Peggy,and Bobby up at like 2am,and said.."We have to be in Dallas before the GANG's wake up"!Lol..If I was you,I'd camp out in Grapevine.

When i am up here for workwe stay in the red oak, area lots to and see and its not too far from Austin or Temple.

The Omni is next door to the convention center if you want to be able to go back and forth from the court to your room. I'm no help on staying an hour away.

Meanwhile... There are over 100 courts in the convention center. Madness!
