I don't get out as far as most of you but I got to put Moore's Double Horn on the list. Its out in Fulser, Tx. Good burgers and great chicken fried steak, the hamber steak isn't that bad either. And the tea will make you put a beer to the side.

    Very cheap.

Sammy's in Castroville is pretty darn good. In San Antonio, the Tip Top is a legend. hasn't changed in 60 years...I think they must have criogenically frozen a bunch of waitreses back in the 50's and keep pulling out new ones as they wear out.

I'll throw a new name in the hat . . . Crossroads Cafe in Schwertner, TX. Pretty dang good burgers, and there fried gizzards are the stuff of legend.

Another awesome cafe is PoPo's in Welfare (between Boerne and Comfort just off of I10 ) Been there forever...food is great and the decor is very campy...walls, ceiling beams etc. are covered with those commemorative china "tourist plates" they sell in the gift shops at tourist destinations all over the country or make to "honor" occasions...bi-centennial, 100 year anniversaries of small towns, etc....the couple that owns the restaurant started collecting and displaying them and then their customers got into it and started bringing them to them...

The Island Cafe in Port Aransas used to be a favorite...till they knocked it down and built condos...

Koffee Kup Kafe in Hico. Sorry, I haven't been their since they changed the spelling! My girlfriend in college was a waitress there, and we'd have lunch there with her parents every Sunday after church. Loved the homemade pies!
