    I need a new pit

    Alright guys,

As we all know, I'm still in school here in Aggieland. Staying busy with class and senior projects, I don't have much time to relax and sometimes it just takes a good afternoon of watching some coal burn down and running the pit low and slow.

Well, the latest pit I had rusted out. No welder up here at school and when I head home to the Hill Country, I always have family plans and not much time to be welding up a pit. Well I'll be danged if I don't make time now. We had some pork chops to make last night and I will never let another piece of meat touch an oven. What a fiasco.

So - if anyone has any ideas for a quick easy pit, let me know. Also, if anyone in the immediate area has a pit they're wanting to sell, let me know. As I said, I don't really have time to build it, but if I have to I have to.

    Cheers.

I cooked for years on $40 Brinkman water smoker(s) from Academy and produced some great smoked meats until I finally finished my ultimate pit. The meat doesn't know what the pit looks like. It just knows time, temperature, and smoke. Takes more fussing with a simpler pit but you can darn sure do it. Another option for a college student is an electric smoker since you can put it on an apartment balcony if that ends up being a necessity. I bought my son one for his condo in LA.

What's your number? I've got a nephew in Aggieland right now, and he has a wirefeed welder available to him. I'll give him your number and maybe y'all can hook up and get something built or repair your existing pit over a case of beer or something. Oh, and don't worry, poor boy doesn't now anything about good beer, he likes the cheap stuff.

Pit had already been repaired a few times, I was tired of it and went ahead and scrapped it just to not give myself the chance. It's time for a new pit. Haha

Youtube Ugly Drum Smoker or UDS. Excellent cooker and fairly inexpensive. If you don't want to go that route keep looking on craigs list for a UDS or Weber Smoky Mountain.

Or if you go by the motto of go big or go home look into Pitmaker Vault or Magnum Sniper
