Cop or not this guy is a puke if he in fact did not earn this metal! Those that got the Purple Heart deserve every bit of it and more.

Do you remember Adm. Jeremy "Mike Boorda"? He took his own life for misrepresenting the Navy by wearing a metal that he did not earn.

If he confronts you, tell him to show you the citation that accompanies an award, and if he does, stand up and tell folks you were mistaken. If he doesn't, then tell him to stand up and tell folks he was lying. And, if he says he "lost it" then tell him to write the Military Records Center in St. Louis and ask for a replacement copy. He can also get a copy of any health record to document his injury.

Folks like this are driven by a need to be stroked, for folks to acknowledge how great they are, and they tell the lie so many times, over and over, that it seems as if they believe it them selves.

It's Shane Ladner's buddy Charles Cox. I just need people to chime in on this. I'm taking a lot of heat from friends of his and even though he's a total poser I just want to make sure I deal with this correctly. Maybe someone has experience outing these wanna-be types.

If you provided info to your newspaper, what reputable newspaper would give up their source...and if it is true, why would YOU catch heck for it?

I had a cousin who lied and bragged all through his life. He served as a radio operator aboard a Navy ship during Vietnam. He never set foot on land.

He spent three years in the Navy and during that time he claims he was a jet fighter pilot and had to kill Viet Cong and NVA in hand to hand combat.

About five years ago he put a .45 in his mouth and pulled the trigger. At his memorial service a young co-worker of his got up and repeated his lies.

It was a sad ending for his family. I feel certain all his lies and bragging had finally caught up with him.

You probably won't have to do anything. Time will reveal his deceit.

Contact the POW network.org. They will request his DD 214 under the freedom of info act. That will reveal all his training, deployments, citations, awards and out of country deployments etc. They will also take any info you have such as all the articles that have been presented and written will legally out him and add him to the WALL OF SHAME.

This is my take on it. There are plenty of ex military that lie and tell war stories. But they exagerate just so you will think more of them. This guy is doing it to profit, to receive hunts and what not . That coupled with the fact he is in law enforcement and occupies a position of public trust and has the ability to do some real damage to folks lives through his lack of morals, truthfullness and character. I say out his punk arse.. He deserves to be fired and added to that wall of shame.

I feel like this is one of those things where it's just about how far you want to take it... You could easily just rag him out in front of the hole town and make him look stupid or just keep on going with it and not really worry about it. IMO someone should set this guy strait this is not something you joke,lie, or disrespect.

Dd214 will only tell where he was deployed to and for how long. No injuries will show on it, even if he was awarded a purple heart because of HIPAA laws. If you could aquire his medical records, all injuries would be there, but good luck getting that from him

Hold on, that is not exactly true, Adm. Borda had a lot more going on inside than the what the press publicized. The media jumped to that conclusion because of how fresh the report was. Don't make that comparison it is completely unfounded and uninformed
