    Gas Trimmers

Ok, its time to replace my electric trimmer, and want to get a gas trimmer.

I'm looking at Craftsman, Echo, and Stihl. My budget is less than $200.

    What says the GS?

Bought a used Echo SRM210 off craigslist for 100 bucks 7 years ago. I use fuel stabilizer and it works like a champ still. I think Stihl makes top notch stuff also.

Stay away from craftsman. Go with echo or stihl, either one will be great. I've got a landscaping and lawncare business and use primarily echo and redmax.

What ever you buy get one with a straight shaft, way easier on your back.

Not sure on the longevity but our secretary at work brought hers up to the shop one day and it seemed like a pretty mean trimmer. Craftsman 31cc and it has the straight shaft think she said they run sales on them here and there for about $120. I like my stihl but I don't think they make a straight shaft for $200. Dot think you can go wrong with an echo either. Curved shaft trimmers suck IMO.

Second this, husq makes a good trimmer. I've got a buddy that just bought these same trimmers for his crew this year.

Whatever you get, run one the enzyme additives or marine sta-bil in your fuel year round. Now as far as the machine- I've got a hand me down stihl that's awesome but before that had a Ryobi that only lasted 13 years. Spend a lil more and take good care of it or spend less and throw it away when it quits...

Echo or Stihl. I've been thru a lot trying to be cheap. These 2 been running them for a lot of years, best in my opinion.

Be Stihl and know. Why buy mediocre?
Use VP 100% ethynol free gas with synthetic blend. Sold for 22 bucks a gal in a can. All my Stihl chainsaws, pole saws, augers purr like a kitten!

I just left McCoys. Stihl has a curved shaft for $129. I was thinking long term I wouldn't like it.

Ok so Echo or Stihl. Just saw a couple of used echo for $150. May go check out.

                          Thanks GS

Good move...you would hate the curved shaft.

My Dad had a stihl trimmer last over 25 years and every piece of 2 cycle equipment I own is stihl.

Yep...you can buy Craftsman, Echo, Husky, etc but if you buy Stihl it will Stihl be around to pass down to your grandkids.
