    CHL question

I walked into gun store and was standing at the counter waiting on the guy to finish with the customer. They were looking at a pistol laying on the counter. The customer inserted a loaded magazine, racked the slide and inserted the gun into a concealed carry holster.

I am not a CHL holder. Is this ok? I guess my issue is him pulling the gun out of concealment and re-holstering it in public.

    Am I being hyper sensitive?

doubt he would do that with a cop in the room...but at a gun store...probably anything goes.

I don't understand what the question is? Help me.

          A) Should he be carrying hot while concealed?

          B) Did he need a round in the chamber to see what it felt like holstered?

Ok I re read the OP. Yes you are being too sensitive. He was there doing business, it happened to be his CW he was either having worked on or possibly trading. How else was he supposed to conduct his business if it remained concealed.

              Actual question
Is it legal to unholster and holster your CCW in a public place?

I would have waited until I got to the car out courtesy for others.

At Walmart no. At a gun shop it's probably not a problem.

I can't walk around with my weiner hanging out, but when I step into a public restroom, it's probably ok, even expected.

See how the location changed the context?

Private property owners discretion. If he wants his gun looked at what else he supposed to do? Guys at the gun shop here in round rock carry open. Exactly who is he hurting?

I don't recall any "owner's discretion" in the Penal Code.

Then what makes it OK for the employee and the owner to carry openly on their own premises? What's the difference in me taking a loaded or unloaded weapon out of my car into the store or off of my person? . I'm genuinely curious I'm sure you know more on the matter than me

It's not public property, so owner rules.

My opinion, you're a little sensitive, but I understand. The act of making it hot would have had my spidey senses tingling until he holstered it

I've carried into a gun store. Started talking to the owner about my sig that I "equicloned" and he wanted to see it. Unholstered, pulled the mag, cleared the chamber, and let him look at it. When he was done, put the mag back, chambered, and reholstered.

I see no problem with it

per my chl instructor... don't do that.

bring it in the store in the box after you have gotten permission.

Wickedly crazy if this was a big box store.
