    Offshore or onshore?

Which do you like better while working on a rig and why..

No reason to go offshore anymore unless you just want to for the extra consecutive days off. Lots of money to be made on land now.

My ONshore rigwork is limited and took place a long time ago, but I can tell you that if you are gonna stay with the ROV's you have no choice, lol.

Offshore ROV work is WAY better on the construction boats than on any rig... you stay much busier and see a lot more tooling, etc. There's really no comparison.

Like with what you're doing there are certain things that will be much busier offshore. As far as most rig positions I'd rather be on land now. I've actually had several offshore offers lower than what I make an hr from San Antonio. BUT if I get a offer higher I'll probably go offshore but doubt that happens anytime soon.

To the original question I prefer to be on land for the flexibility of getting home in case of emergencies

Didn't you just get hired on with the ROV company?

They both have good and bad points. Offshore can get a little like prison if you get stuck on a 60 day tow, but usually you'll make a little more money. Land its nice to go to town and get a steak away from the rig.
