I had a spot come open on the deer lease this week so today I decided to show the lease to a long time friend (deer99hunter).
We were going to meet up at 12 so another buddy and I went riding at 11 as we got to a stand location we parked the rzr and started to walk into the oaks about 30 yards in we jumped up 5-6 40-60# shoats. Well crud we left the 17hmr at the rzr. So I ran back and grabbed a few shells and started to stalk up on them. Long story short they managed to get away into a briar thicket.
So at 12 I picked up Patrick at the gate and started to show him a few spots as we come up to the spot we had been talking about for weeks Patrick said stop I was thinking he may have seen a snake but he had seen about 20-30 pigs quickly he grabbed the 17hmr and shot at a sow about 125 yrds clean miss as we walked to where the pigs had been about 10 piglets ran back out this time I shot with a clean miss. By this time we are pumped up so I decide to put on a spot and stalk through the marsh with tennis shoes on. As I made it in about 150 yards i here the piglets squealing and then the sow steps out at 50 yards. This time when I shot, the sow dropped in her tracks then a 10# piglet stepped out so i shot again it dropped. The other piglets ran around me for another 5 mins as Patrick came into help me get them out. As we made it back to the rzr my other buddy arrived so we took a few pictures and called it a day or did we.
As we started on our way out I had another member call me so that we could meet up and him give me his lease money when we arrived he said I just seen 6 40-60# shoats cross the road Patrick said do you mind if I use the gun I want to take a walk of course I said go ahead. As we sat and talked about the lease and rule changes we herd Patrick shoot and my phone started buzzing he made a perfect shot right behind the ear he had just shot another 40# sow. What a first day on the lease with my good buddy Patrick and hope for many more.
