    Weather Alert HC/San Antonio area

It's pretty muggy out there this morning. Don't let the sun fool ya, eye on the sky today. Hope the weather guru's here chime in.

Thunderstorms could bring hail by midday

SAN ANTONIO — The National Weather Service is predicting scattered thunderstorms, with the potential for hail, will develop by midday in metropolitan San Antonio.

The thunderstorms also will spread east and north of San Antonio, including the Interstate 35 corridor and eastward, according to the agency's office serving San Antonio and Austin.

“Isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible,” meteorologists wrote in a hazardous weather outlook issued just before 5:30 a.m. Friday. “The main concern from these storms will be large hail and damaging winds. Thunderstorms will diminish and end by early evening.”

On the other side of the region, dry and warm conditions in the Rio Grande Plains and southern Edwards Plateau, added to breezy west winds, will create critical fire weather conditions, meteorologists warned.

Patchy fog in the morning will clear by the afternoon, according to meteorologists. High temperatures will reach the upper 80s. A light south wind will shift westward in the afternoon.

Friday night will be mostly clear and cooler, with low temperatures in the upper 50s in Bexar County and the lower 50s in the Hill Country. Winds will blow from the north at 10 to 15 miles per hour.
