    Fishing Calaveras

Well now that fishing seems to be picking up recently, Im going to try and get out to the lake more often. Just wondering if any green screeners had any tips on places to try out at Calaveras (I don't have a boat, so just back fishing.) I just want to catch a fish! Anything besides a pleco with a cast net

Get a kayak and head on over to 181 Cove! Shad heads, tilapia, shrimp, and Marvs punch bait are doing pretty good.

Hybrid stripers are hitting chicken liver along the banks.

Redfish are now starting to stage at the wall.

Buy a sack full of HORSE & MULE feed and bait up a spot along the bank. Give that a few hours and or come back the next day. C&Js Punch bait in Shad, Big Marvs Cheese bait and or night crawlers for channel cats along the bank. Use a float rig Carolina style with a 2/0 - 3/0 circle hook, suspending the bait just above the bottom.

Go to the left towards the point that is furthest out. Wade about waist high and cast. If you can get a boat. The crappie wall is good. The area I said to wade but all the way towards the other bank is good. Good luck

Last time I fished there I hammered the striper on swim baits fun to fish there but I wouldn't eat anything out of a power plant lake

Shad works well on pretty much anything out there

Go to the wall, use shrimp with a balloon.

catfish moving real close to shore for the spawn, if you can find any reed beds those cats will be right in there during the spawn, stripers/reds kinda early for the reel screaming days

I could tell you where to go back in 1970 when it first opened......I worked there in bait stand back then the summer before my senior year at E.C.....I used to be able to find the old stock tanks of my cousins up toward foster road but that was back in 76 when I had my own boat and the old stuart road bridge that is under water........Andy

Man this talk is getting me excited to go. Going to try this weekend hopefully, taking some horse and mile and going to take a cast net for shad. I will also try to get a hold of some stink bait and shrimp to increase my odds. Any other suggestions or reports guys?
