    lab jumped off a bridge

Went to the river and let the dogs out while I launched the boat went back to get them in boat and I couldnt find them about that time I hear a horn honk up on the highway. I called them and I turned and looked and my older dog was there with blood coming out his mouth and looked like his front two legs were broke or something..he was between me and the water. Found the young dog Got him in the truck. Loaded the boat out and a guy came up to me and said did I see a big lab and puppy. I said yea my big dog either got bit by a snake or something. He said the big dog jumped off the bridge..which is 25 to 30 feet. I took him to the vet and there is no broke bones but his wrist tendons are stretched to where he is walking on his wrist not his paws. The vet just bandaged it up and gave me three kinds of medicine. He hasn't gone to the bathroom since it happened. I have to bring him back monday.

I know its a long shot but has anybody every had this happen before. He is nine and im not sure if there is anything they can do. I have been sick about it..have been sitting here with him all weekend watching march madness. I tried to build him some crutches or like splint but all he did is walk around and then lay down.

                Sorry to hear!

We had one of our labs jump off the second floor porch at our beach house. 20+ feet. She was sore for a few days, but no major injuries. I couldn't believe it. We all wonder how she survived it.

No experience there, but I had my basset hound get run over by a pickup. Thought for sure was going to die. I almost put her down to get her out of her misery, but my aunt, who is not a vet, but worked for one for years, helped us treat her. It seemed like it was several days before she came around, but then one day she got better and better day by day. That was several years ago and the dog is still alive today. I hate to hear about your dog. I hope it gets better soon.

Hate to hear it but a dogs resiliency is amazing. My heeler should have been dead several times over. I bet he will be sore for a while but he will come around.

Why ""must" you ask this? Does it help him at all? I rarely post my opinion but do you ever have anything positive to add?

to the original poster-I hope your dog heals quickly.

Just make him comfy, give him some special treats and he will come around when he is ready.Would you feel like walking around and eating drinking if you sprained both your ankles. He gets hungry and ready he will come out. He is going to take full advantage of being a big baby.

Give em big ole head rub for me..Stevieray
