Sounds like to me they used a cambered axle versus a non cambered axle ad there is a difference in how bias and radial tires will wear. If that trailer came with bias tires it will wear funny and not last as long as radials

Yep this (along with the other suggestions).

My trailer bearings wore in and became lose which allowed the tires to pivot. I've tightened them up twice now since the trailer was new.

I also replaced the stock crap tires with radial trailer tires that show no signs of odd wear.

Sounds like someone have continuously carried to many heavy loads and making the axle bow out

We had one axle on dad's trailer just give out, and start wearing the insides of the tires. It still had the "crown" in it between the leaf springs, but it was bent upwards between the leaf springs and the spindles. I guess it was just from years of sudden upward impacts since it was the front axle. We never overloaded it.......but it was over 30 years old.

And wouldn't said bend cause wear to the outside of the tires when unloaded?
yeah, i think you are correct. maybe it is knock-kneed rather than bow-legged.
