Were you required to do the govt paperwork being it wasnt a paid hunt?
Still curious about paperwork. If oryx is killed on private land and not a paid hunt is the govt paperwork required?

Yes, a USFWS federal permit is required by the landowner.

Pretty sure its not. The oryx addax and dama gazelle were removed from the protected list they were put on and are now just a normal exotic again. (I think)

Y'all are both right. A couple months ago a permit was required, but as of last Thursday they were put back on the exempt list so the permits are no longer necessary. Here is a link:

And congrats on a great oryx.

Not if nobody knows??? He posted it on a public website. Do u realize how many tx game wardens visit this site? I know 3 personally. They are very active members. The taxidermist and processor gotta have the permit, somebodies gonna know.

I have a chance at a free ranging oryx and would like to know the right answer so nobody (especially me) doesnt get in a bind. Last time i checked with a game warden, the paperwork was required. I figured since he just shot one, he may be up to speed on the law.
