Ranch hand vs. brush guard vs. stock bumper.

What provides the best protection for a truck? I think the ranch hand type replacement bumpers would excel at low speed collisions (under 20-15 mph). But what about hitting a deer at say 70 mph? Will replacement bumpers put too much stress on the frame cause they don't crush? What do ya'll think?

I have hit deer with both, going 70, in a 2nd gen dodge 3500.

The brush guard bent back, and the top was touching my hood. It also crunched in my passenger side fender a little bit. This led me to get the FER.

There was no problems with the FER after hitting a deer.

I had FER on ford diesel few years back. Hit a mule deer bout 65 dead center. Not a dent, scratch one on truck or bumper. Deer not so much so.

Hit a cow about 50 with a brush gaurd. Major damage to truck and had to shoot cow.

      FER much more deadly.

"We" drive around at work all the time in vehicles equipped with replacement bumpers. Some have brush guards and others have the stock bumpers... Have never seen a deer strike cause frame damage at any speed on any vehicle... From what I have seen, I will take a replacement bumper any day over the other two options...

I was with a buddy of mine in his Ford F350. He had a full replacement, and the speedometer was saying we were going 95. He hit a deer, just off center, and other than the hair and blood, you would have never known we hit a deer.
