Best Car for MPG's

We just bought a 2013 with just under 11,000 miles on it fully loaded for $20,000 for the wife because she drives around 5000 to 6000 miles a month.

My work and back commuting car 2006 Prius averages 48mpg in summer 45mpg winter. My 2010 Suburban cost me exactly 3x to go the same distance, but I have to keep it around to pull my camper and tractor to the farm and back.

Kind of like my situation. I have to keep my truck around to pull trailers and my boat but I need a car that's more fuel efficient. It costs more than $6k for diesel per 20,000 miles in my truck vs around $2200 in a jetta tdi. When I did the math I was shocked.

Realistically, for $5k your best bet is to find the lowest mileage, best maintained, newest car from either Honda, Toyota, or Nissan that you can find.
