    Got a question for TBHers

I am going to sign up for some draw hunts next year. It states you have to have bowhunter ed and a proficiency test. Well i know i can take the bowhunters ed at CCR but where do you get a proficiency test?

    Thanks in advance

They will have a proficiency shoot at CCR before the H deadline if thats the one you mean. You can also do it at most 3-D shoots, just let the range master know you need to do it. Also, On Target Archery in Canton can help you out on just about any Saturday. They do a 3-D shoot every week.

Is this a new requirement? I've been doing draw hunts for many years and have never had either. Been on some good hunts too.

Ok, I guess it's according to the WMA rules. I've never been to a WMA on a draw hunt that requires that but I've never been to Hagerman.

I've been on quite a few of them over the years and have never had a bad hunt really. There are lots of great places to hunt with good people running the hunts. You will enjoy it.

It looks fun! i havent had a chance to get on a lease yet so i have been doing public hunting which is HARD for a newbe to say the least lol so i figured at least i could get on some draw hunts and pointed in the right direction it is kind of confusing to figure out how to fill out the draw forms. And do you know when your supposed to have them sent in by? it didnt say on the website. Thanks

Hagerman is federal. Different rules from TPWD.

We have a Hagerman Archery qualification on paper setup for Saturday 21 June 2014. We did one of these last year in July, wanted to move it up this year (heat). It will be at CCR in North Fort Worth, close to Alliance Airport/Cabelas.

BowSlayer is right, Dallas. You don't need the bowhunters ed or proficiency test for the TPW draw hunts. Just your hunters safety cert and hunting license. And to get drawn of course.
