        You're comparing apples to oranges. The Harbor Freight models will be no where as durable or dependable as the Honda, but I'm sure there is something in between that would suit your needs for considerably less than what the Honda will cost. I'm wrestling with similar decision right now about a generator to run my travel trailer as well as being a standby in case of a power outage at home. I won't be dropping $2K-$3K on one for my needs.

          I have a Multiquip brand generator that is over 20 years old and still runs like a new one. They have Honda Motors on them. They may or may not be cheaper than Hondas, I'm not sure but you might look into them.

            Check out the Northern Tool catalog for their house line. Also sell Honda gens so you can compare.
