I was told about a method to trap hogs this weekend I have never considered. Basically some guys from Louisiana (I know, spare me the coon *** B.S. stories) apparently got so fed up with feral hogs they began digging pits in the ground over 4 1/2' deep and about 8-10' across with nearly vertical walls and salting the surrounding ground with corn but piling enough corn in the bottom of the hole that hogs go in after it, and cannot climb out.
He said they then dispatch of the hogs right down in the hole and just fill it in with dirt and go dig another pit to bait! Natural fertilizer.
Anybody on here ever done that? What dimensions did you use? I imagine it might be hard to do this on leased ground, but I own my tract with major hog issues and have a tractor- so thought about giving this some consideration.
