This was posted on Trapperman and he is needing someone in the Austin area to do something special, really cool deal and wished I was closer!!
(Rawcalls posted this) I have a good friend down in the Austin area that donates a lot of his time to a group called Kids Outdoor Zone (or KOZ). It is a youth outdoor ministry and they do a lot of mentoring for at risk youth and the focus is to get them in the outdoors. Anyway, he was recently back in our home town because his dad passed away and was telling me about all of the hunting and stuff they do with the kids. I asked him if they had ever had someone come and give them a demonstration or teach them about trapping. He said they have not but was definitely interested in the idea. I told him I would ask around and see what I could come up with. Does anyone here do that kind of thing or know who to ask. I will try and contact someone from the Texas Trappers and Fur Hunters Association to see if they would do something like this but it would be helpful if someone could give me a name of the correct person to contact. I think this would be an excellent way to get more youth involved in the sport we love and to teach them the ethics and correct ways to trap. If it would take some money to get someone to go do a seminar, I would be willing to pay for it as long as it isn't extremely high priced. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
