    Fly fishing in Boulder tomorrow

Brought my oldest daughter to Colorado for spring break. Today we went to the Air Force Academy and the Olympic training center. Both were worth the trip. Tomorrow we're fly fishing, but here's the weather forecast:

A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Breezy, with a north northwest wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

The wind is not real bad but the snow and cold=good fishing no crowds.

If you can make it to 11mile canyon we did good flyfishing there a few years ago while TDY working some dirt LZ's and it was so cold the line was freezing the line in the eyes of the rod

You can fool some nice size fish this time of year when the pressure is low. The wind can be tough when it's directly into your face and blowing 15+ but this time of year using heavier nymphs shouldn't pose to much of a problem

This time of year use midge. Sight fishing if you can to see if they even take a look, if they don't you know the wrong fly.

look for a little bit deeper pools. Use a dropper below any dry fly you chose. They are more likely to hit the dropper this time of year

I am in Loveland right now on business and the wind along the front range is supposed to be bad all day. Not good for fly fishing. Might be okay if you get tucked back up in some of the canyons a little farther back into the mountains.

The guide just rescheduled us for tomorrow. It's supposed to be warmer and no wind. A gust just nearly blew me over in the hotel parking lot, and I'm 200 lbs.

Thanks for the tips - hope to have some good LDPs tomorrow!

Been fly fishing these winds for the last few days. In the canyons you CAN Get away from the winds. You just need to find the sheltered areas. Benn doing quite well recently no matter the conditions.

Fishing new water is always a good thing Remember to dip the rod tip in the water every once in a while

Living in Colorado Springs now and I will be fly fishing near the Cheesman Canyon section of the South Platte River in Deckers (west of Col Springs) this weekend. Fishing is supposed to be ON in that area. All catch and release browns and rainbows. The report this week from the question "what are they biting on?" was Buckskins size 18 and 20's, Mercury Black Beauty size 18, and JuJu Baetis size 20. The Big Midge is hatching in numbers now which has the fish in a very active feeding pattern! The Baetis Nymphs are really moving around now which means the fish are eating lots of them!

I'm going out with the folks from flies-n-lies.com

Just back in Texas today. It was an incredible trip. We came away without any fish, but it's not because they weren't there. Outside temp was around 35 degrees, water temp 34.

We could see the trout in the river and got a few bites, but frankly landing them was more complicated than I had imagined - I'm more used to fishing for specs/reds that seem to hit a lot harder than river trout. It was very subtle and I felt like I was a few seconds behind.

Nevertheless, our guide was great. He spent most of the morning working with my 8 year old daughter and she had a great time. We used Tom with Sunrise Anglers. I would recommend him and without a doubt will use him again next time we go up. Will definitely get more practice in before my next trip so I have less to think about, though.

My pics are taking forever to upload - will post them later.

                              Thanks for the tips!
