    Any flashlight experts?

Is there better light for the money than the Fenix PD35 that maxs at 850 lumens, On two cr123 or one 18650??
Eagle Tac and Ultra fire were two others I heard mentioned but based on reviews the fenix seemed better.

How does running this style o light compare when running the two cr123 vs 18650?

Easier here than searching through the candle power forums.

No. Haven't compared the two cr123s to 18650 but I would expect the difference to be unnoticeable.

I use the PD32 and the TK35 on patrol as my main lights. The 18650 sticks seem to be a bit better but it might be my imagination. I can normally use one charge for an entire week and when I go to recharge, they have more than 50% power remaining.

I haven't tried the PD35 but will likely be ordering one soon. I use the 18650 sticks out of convenience and cost. I have about a dozen of them and rotate them out and always keep about four spares on me at work.

PD35. Also have the pd32. Fenix also has a new E35 that is supposed to be 900 lumens and slightly smaller than the pd35. You just can't go wrong and their customer service is outstanding.

The ultra fire 502b is crazy cheap but some guys say they only get 200 of the 1000 advertised lumens.

Or the eagle Tac tx25 with 950 lumen.

Just for grins check out www.zebralight.com. Runs on the 18650 with 1090 lumens on high. A little different design though. I like mine.

I've bought 6 Cree lights on Ebay, identical to the Kill Lights. They are crazy bright and have been a great buy.

I have the ultrafire. Just got it about a week ago. I got it in green, I'll probably get one in white because the green light freaks me out . Havent gotten the mount stuff yet, but hand held it for my brother while he shot a hog at about 175 last friday. Killer light, and incredible seeing as how you can get a light, 2 18650's and a charger for under $20. I have no experience with the others though, good luck
I was able to differentiate deer to hogs to cows to rabbits at 200-250. Not optimum light, but enough to tell and see where to aim

Depends quite a bit on which 18650's vs which CR123's. It also depends quite a bit on how low a voltage the LED driver will work at for the light.

Starting voltage for one 18650 is 4.2V

Starting voltage for two CR123's is 6V

The CR123's have a lower current draw at first than an 18650 because of the higher start voltage to produce the same power output. That gives them a little life boost.

Where a good 18650 really excels is in it's current draw capacity. A 18650 with a capacity of 2800 mah has a higher power factor than two CR123's with a capacity of 1500mah. So theoretically the 18650's win until you start comparing driver circuits. Some driver circuits simply don't work efficiently with the lower voltage of an 18650.

For the most part a high quality 18650 versus two high quality CR123's is a wash.

Check out the solarforce M3 Turbo head screwed on a solarforce L2.

Check this on the 18650's Lot of difference between what brand cells they use.

I use the free Pelican flashlights from work. Those are the best ones.
