    I need a new lawnmover

School me on lawnmowers. I have a 7yr old Cub LT1042 from Lowes that is POS. As near as I can tell, most all of these mowers are made by MTD and basically the same machine with different stickers and paint jobs.

I have about 1 1/2 acres to mow and want a mower I don't have to spend $300 a year on keeping it running. I would like to stay under $3k.

    Recommendations??

Get a zero turn and don't look back.

Or a belly deck lawn tractor or something.

I'm over pos stamped deck mtd etc riding mowers

Don't really know about homeowner models but my scag has kawasaki engine that is great. Most commercial landscape co regard the kawasaki as #1.

I misunderstood. 7 years out of a homeowner model with stamped steel decks and all is probably the life of the mower. Some of the commercial mowing co make an in-between model now. I know scag makes a freedom-z. Little out of your price range but mower will last longer also.

If your mower drives and runs ok, or you have a 4 wheeler, get yourself a gang reel mower and never look back. 7 foot swath at 6-8 mph is hard to beat for 1000 bucks.

I like Scag with a Kawasaki. I would say you might have to spend a little more than the $3000 but it would be worth it in the long run.

Kawasaki motors are tough to beat. I have the 26hp liquid cooled on my commercial bad boy. Been a great machine

Gravely may have something with a solid steel deck in that price range.

I don't see a zero turn working well. I have a lot of crap in the yard. Are the John Deere's any good?

And I should have added, it's been limping along for 7 years. Had to start working on it at the 2yr mark.

A lot of crap like what?

The more stuff u have to mow around the more u will appreciate the zero turn
