Can't remember the price but I have some asolo hikers I got from rei a while back. Super comfortable and going strong after 2 years. I did two elk hunts with them in 2012 and they did great. It's what I have been wearing to hunt warm weather here in texas. A great hiking boot for travel as well.

Don't cheap out on boots. - Cheap boots are great when you're standing at the register, but it really sucks when they either fall apart, or your feet hurt after a few trips and the cheap padding has broken down.

Don't buy boots made in China. - Instead look for boots made in USA, or somewhere in Europe (Germany, Italy, France, etc). This is all about quality in craftsmanship.

If you're going to hunt in Texas, and walk, buy leather boots. - Lightweight hikers will leave you miserable and full of cactus and mesquite thorns. I always look for boots with Vibram soles as well.

Lowa, Asolo, LaSportiva, Zamberlan, SCARPA, and many others make quality boots that will last you for years of rugged service.

Vasque used to top that list for me, but they started outsourcing to China, and they are pretty much junk now.

Could not agree more. I also would look at kenetrek hardscrable hikers and lowa tibets if you can stretch the budget a bit.
