I am on my journey to become a

Tough Mudder! The Tough Mudder is coming to Dallas in Oct so I decided to step up and man up and do it! I started P90X3 2 weeks ago and began adding running this past week, today I am running 5k. I have a couple of buddies signing up as well to make it a team effort.

Have any of y'all done a Tough Mudder? Any tips? I have ~7 months to train and prep for my orange sweatband.

I've done several things similar,, never a tough mudder. I'll tell you this....I did a similar race after two go arounds on p90x and never did better. I placed 5th in a gladiator race and that was without doing ipany running leading up. Only listening to tony. He's extremely douchy but it gets you in check!

        Cardio, cardio, and more cardio.

The obstacles themselves are relatively easy, it's keeping up the pace that gets you.

TM's are a blast. Good attitude and teamwork will be your friends. It's a 50/50 concept. Strength and endurance amigo. I run all mine hungover so I guarantee you'll be fine.

Haha! I am getting pretty good team together so far. I am pumped to do this and it has given me something to focus on to keep motivated with training. I feel like I am prepping for boot camp all over again but almost 20 years later.

Yes! It is a blast, but not easy. Most important is to be able to run/walk/climb about 12 miles, and plyometrics will help a lot. You will be pulling your own body weight, and no chickening out at the ice bath! Sign up for the Sunday run if you can - less people on the course, and you might want the next day off from work. Be prepared for at least one gnarly bruise!

I've done one. It was a lot of fun. Finishing it is not that hard if you are in decent shape, but if you want to do really well I would concentrate on upper body work ie shoulders arms and grip and CARDIO. Plus I guarantee the Dos Equis at the end is the best beer you will ever drink. From experience I would recommend going through the final electrical gauntlet with a large group of people. The more bodies there are absorbing the electricity the better off you are. And hold your hands in front of your face to avoid an electrified noose situation. Like I said from experience it is not pleasant at ALL.

I never would have thought of going through the electroshock with a group like that. Great tip...more people to absorb electricity! Thx
