    High speed chase!

From Bastrop to Salado this morning. I was right behind the guy when he merged from 130 to I-35 in Georgetown. He was rolling on 3 shredded tires and managed another 20-25 miles before the ford gave it up. Lots of DPS, county deputies, Georgetown PD, a game warden, a helicopter and even the Wilco dog catcher were in on the action.

Nope. They don't spike white Broncos. They just let them drive home.

Bet he'll use a Chevy as a getaway vehicle next time.

BELL COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A man led police on an hour-long chase through four Central Texas counties Friday morning.

Department of Public Safety troopers attempted to pull the man over in Bastrop County at 10:30 a.m. He then fled the scene.

Seven agencies followed the man through Travis and Williamson counties before he was taken into custody in Bell County by DPS troopers shortly after 11:30 a.m.

Police pursued the man along several roadways, including U.S. Highway 290, State Highway 130 and Interstate 35.

Yep, no need to extend the chase.

I had a customer come up from Austin today who saw the aftermath. He was delayed for close to an hour by the traffic jam it created. Said the rims were worn down to almost nothing.

They were able to get one lane open pretty soon after he was apprehended. Glad i was only a few vehicles behind the troopers so I didn't have to wait long to get moving again.

Anybody know what they were chasing him for? Most agencies won't get into a pursuit anymore unless you did something pretty bad, but knowing DPS, they might have been chasing him that far for speeding. Also, knowing DPS, they probably didn't spike his tires, they probably deflated them with "00" buck.

Old cop buddy tells a story of being in a long chase with DPS assisting. Radio traffic went something like this:
Dispatch: "Suspect reported to be armed and dangerous."
                          (Silence)
                          Dispatch: "Units copy?"
                          (Silence)
Dispatch: "I need the lead unit to copy my traffic, suspect armed and dangerous."
Cop buddy: "Dispatch, I'm not sure if everyone heard you, but the lead unit is a Trooper, and I'm pretty sure he did, he's pulled up next to the subject and he's hanging his shotgun out the window....okay, shots fired, suspect vehicle 10-50 (wrecked out), one in custody."
