I've heard of some people putting a sort of wire funnel in the hole that allows the squirrels to sort of squeeze their way out, but not to get back in. Then when they're confident they're out, they repair the hole. Haven't tried that, but it seems like it would work. The sooner you evict them the better because they'll start nesting and having babies up there soon.

Catch 10 - 15 every spring in order to keep them out of my tomatoes.
Smear a little peanut butter on the pressure plate and press a couple of pecan halves into the peanut butter. Works like a charm.
I say a pellet to the head is in order.

Its a lot safer with little kids living all around me. Plus, the last thing I need is a nosy neighbor turning me in for killing them out of season.
