It's called hair migration, the hair leaves the top to find more protected environments like ears, nose, or even better the back.

I think the trick is to stay away from the lame ones amigo... I've never been that good at puns, but always been a fan when well played and do take a shot at every chance like you.

No doubt, the BEST ones are when only 1/2 the audience gets it!! Kinda like 'that's what she said' can be hero or zero.

Many factors at work here, regarding humor -- few are the fault of you or your material. First, young people who know you don't have an image of you as a comedian, for one thing. Second, most young people don't have the same experiential context to understand the basis of your puns or even regular jokes (I'm guessing). Third, humor generally relies on irony or at least a double meaning, making it a sophisticated mental undertaking for young minds with limited experience. In other words, don't worry about it.
