There are quite a few books out there, or you can do what I'm doing and go take a class. I have been looking forward to it for a long time, and I start tomorrow!

I'm taking my class at C-M Forge in College Station. I've known Curtis for a long time and you will never meet a more down to earth guy. I hope to take a few pictures and post them on a thread here.

    Check him out:

Check the DIY section here. I'm not a knife maker but have bought some blades from Alabama Damascus. You can buy pre cut blanks. Or blades ready to go only needing final edge. Or just blank sheets. Also handle material and pins. Good luck and have fun.

          Check this thread out.

Also, there are forums for knifemakers. Bladeforums is the biggest but I like Knifedogs. It's smaller but the guys on there remind me a lot of the guys here on TBH as far as helping and just being a close community. Making knives is a blast and you can get by with basic tools(files, drill, hacksaw and sandpaper, etc.) but you are going to put in hours and hours of time. I have a decent grinder now and have "my process" down pretty good so I have shrunk that time down considerably but it is still multiple hours worth of work. To me, its all worth it.
