Need some info on fishing smith point galveston

My buddy wants to fish smith point on Friday and I'm looking for any intel I can get about the area. Is it mud bottom? I only really fish matagorda so any info would be appreciated.

Don't DO IT!! Just kidding, I didn't have any luck last few times down there. Are you going to be wade fishing or in a boat?

Mud bottom mostly, ask around about a place called Richards reef, I've caught many a red a speck there.

I have not had much luck there when wade fishing, if you go towards the Anahuac park (to the left at the Y) drive to the very end of the dirt road there are always guys out there wade fishing, and last time I was there they had some luck with flounder. There is a boat ramp before you get to smith point on the right, I believe it is called Hawkins camp road, I have not launched there yet but saw others launching and they didn't seem to have a problem.
