Camp Lejeune/MCAS New River NC?

Anyone know of anything to see or do while in the area, that is family oriented? Headed out that way to see our son soon, and all we hear is "there is nothing to see or do" in the area.

I would be a 4 hr drive but I use to love to go to Cape Hatteras. Couple of ferry rides that would be fun for the kids. I was a single Marine so not much help.

That's why I added "that is family oriented" I figured most of the Marines on here that might know a little about the area, were probably single when they were there!

Brother, you're just in luck. I was born there and stationed at MALS-29 New River MCAS for 5 years. You gotta eat at Hilda's Soulfood resturant. You will not regret it. The beaches there are good to go. Check out Wilmington while you're there. That's my favorite city in US. Cobblestone streets, plantation houses, and really artsy. Visit the battleship while you're there.

Another place to eat is Whiteoak Bistro.

Really, there's not much to see in J-ville. Mrytle beach is a 2 drive south.

Myrtle Beach is only a couple hours away. Lots to see on the way.
