These are remington shells but the wax paper wrapping looks very similar to those winchesters. Saw some on gunbroker listed for almost $50 box!! Outrageous!!

the lot # shows it is made by remington arms and the run is 5714. I wouldnt say it is military per se since they dont hunt small game, but it could have been used to shoot skeet on installations back in the day.

It's the old style lot number system. Military still gets this type of ammo for the shooting teams I believe

I have shot some of that old stuff like you listed. The paper shells come apart at the brass and clog the chamber. Easy to pull out. I suppose a collectors item or something, but modern plastic is much better keeping the powder dry from humidity.

I don't really know what to do with it? I wasn't going to shoot it that's for sure! Maybe I will post up in classifieds and see if anyone is interested.

Lot number = year made and what batch. So 1957 and the 14th batch. It's made like that so if there is a recall or a problem that will have a place to look.

At least that's how the big bullets are ran.
