    Anyone use Scangauge II?

IM looking at adding some gauges to my truck, and I quickly determined that it would be cheaper to get a Scangauge II, that will tell me from 12 to 30+ different gauge readouts (4 at a time) than it would be to add a couple analogue gauges. So, I was wondering if anyone was running one of these on their ride, and if you could answer some questions for me.

How accurate is the MPG numbers given by the gauge compared to hand calculations?

How is the night time lighting on it? Is it dimmable for night driving? My eyes can be sensitive to lights in the cab, and I don't want a blaring light on my dash.

    Any input would be appreciated.

Stumbled across the Ultra-gauge too. Anyone running it? Shows more info, and still about half price of the Scangauge.

Buck, what type of vehicle are you planning on using it on, got a smart phone? I was going to go the UltraGuage route but I went with the Torque Pro app and the Elm 327 Bluetooth setup. Cost about $10. It works great with both my vehicles 2006 Tundra, and 2012 T4R. Here is an actual screen shot of mine just a few mins ago. Ive had it for just a few weeks but havent had the time to customize it yet. There is plenty of live readouts and has an OBD 2 Fault reader too.

Putting it in my 07 Silverado Classic.

Ide heard people talk about that, and looked into it, but I already have my phone hooked in through Bluetooth to my radio for hands-free, and don't like the idea of my gauges cutting out every time I get a call. Plus, I already use my phone for GPS, so it might get a little complicated if Im taking a long trip, want to monitor my trucks parameters, and then receive a call.

Gotcha, I dont use my phone for any tunes or anything in my truck so the torque app works out great for me. Out of the 2 you mentioned I have seen both in action and the UltraGuage would be my pick.

Yeah, definitely looking at the Ultra-gauge. Its bigger, cheaper, shows more gauges at once, has a much more modern look, and might possibly fit into some of the mounts deigned for Edge Products programmers.

Ive heard a lot of people that like the Scangauge. That's why I was looking at it at first. Plus, you can change the color, and it will fit in tighter places. But, I didn't like the small screen, or the dot matrix looking display.

The cts insight is sweet. That's what I'll be buying

Yeah, I would love one of those, but the funds aren't there at the moment. The Ultra-gauge is pretty dang close to that, without some of the frills, but costs about 1/3 or les than what the Edge does.

I've had one for a few years, it has a real time mpg readout that I like to use, it is accurate, all has to be programed, lighting color can be changed, it's not overly bright, not sure about changing the brightness, I wouldn't mind it being a little brighter. Also like the mph readout since I have over size tires on my truck, I have volts and rpm on display with the mph and mpg.

I run the CTS as guages on my diesel.

Buck, I use a Scangauge, I like it. I haven't really compared hand calc mileage vs. my truck MPG and Scangauge.

You can adjust the background light intensity, but it doesn't auto-adjust, I haven't had a problem with it- amd I also turn my dash lights down.
