Sold a camper now they want a power of attorney

I sold a small travel trailer almost a year ago. Just recently I was contacted by a shop in Granbury that said the people I sold it to didn't properly transfer the travel trailer and they needed me to sign a power of attorney to transfer it to the shop. I am a little concerned because I don't know if it has been in any accidents or gotten any tickets and if I sign it with todays date it looks like I have owned it this entire time.

Is this ok to sign the power of attorney for motor vehicle transfer?

Other things that concern me is that the couple I sold it to are being cut out of the loop and they owned it for almost a year. One of them is not from the US. Also, the shop filled out the power of attorney and put their address for my address and their county as my county. If nothing else, the address is wrong and it says that falsifying on this document is a 3rd degree felony.

No way I would sign it, they need to bring you a title transfer application to sign and the people you sold it to need to clarify what is going on.

Don't sign it, I would talk to the DMV to get the proper way to handle this.

Make the shop provide proof of ownership via signature from the people you sold it to. At the very least make them provide proof of default for any work that they have done and not been paid on before moving forward.

No way. You have nothing to gain and everything to lose.

Power of Attorney??? You should have a document with the bill of sale date. The DMV has a fee for $6 that you pay just for these matters if they do not transfer it properly.

I think I would be very cautious in signing a Power of Attorney!!!

Sounds like they are trying to get around the $25 per month penalty for not transferring the title. I would not sign that document. Especially if you filled out all the correct forms the first time. If you do sign it, make sure the date that it was sold is included somewhere on there.

A POWER OF ATTORNEY gives them the power to make DECISIONS for YOU!!!

Something is fishy here. Get ready to bend over. There is NO REASON to sign a power of attorney to transfer a title.

I'm going thru this now myself and trying to figure out what to do. I bought a TT from a buddy who bought from another buddy that I thought had a clear title. After I paid for it he tells me he never tranfered the title from when he bought it and the guy before him didn't either. So I am stuck with a TT that has the signature of the original owner that was dated 10 years ago on the title. I'm changing leases now so I will be pulling it on the road to the new place. I talked to the tax lady and she gave me a form to have the original owner sign stating it was sold or I have to get power of attorney. The power of attorney is only for the one transaction, but I don't want to do that and will figure out a way around it.

Sounds a little shady, I'd ignore them. It's not your problem.

I have people sign these almost daily. They are NOT a full POA. Just give "x" the right to transfer a specified vehicle/trailer thru TxDot.

Google "txdot poa form".. Very common
