When I am looking to add a new member to our group, it is not first come first serve so there is no list nor a need to show anybody that list. I make sure I state that in any posting as well. I choose, after discussion with other members, who I think or feel will mesh best with our group and hunting situation.....one bad move by me and it could ruin our camp. First come first serve is a recipe for disaster on a lease IMO.

If you have a guy that won't communicate back with you, I'd be running to the next guy. Communication is real big with me on my list of things I like to see....text, email, phone or PMs. In fact, lack of it ****** me off. You don't owe him anything......next!.

I might be interested, can you hold it a couple months while I think about it?

J/K. J/K. I know how you fill, hate the waiting game.

I hear ya. If you are having "problems" getting the guy on the lease......WOW.

That is surely a sign of things to come. Run and run fast.

On the flip side, I do not understand guys filling spots on their lease and guys getting on a lease sight unseen. Lease ads get posted and then bang all the spots are filled.

I have run a lease before and had guys try to send me a check. NOPE. I would never put a guy on a lease that did not make the drive out and tour the place and I would never want to be on a lease I had never seen. Just seems like way too many "ifs" in all of that for it to be successful.

I recently was in the same boat as you filling spots on our lease. After a while you can tell which guys are serious and which guys are not. The ones that are serious will be staying in touch with you constantly. I wouldn't hold out for anyone especially if you have tried to contact him numerous times.

This is a small lease and in the seven years I have had it I can probably count on one hand and have some fingers left the number of times I have had at least two hunting at the same time. I don't really understand folks that get on a lease and don't come hunt.

Save yourself some headache and ALWAYS put a day and time on any offer. ie "let me know by Friday noon, if you are interested."

When I have an opening on our leaseI show it to them. Give them a great explanation of the ranch and then give them a deadline that I would need to know by. I will call them on that day, unless they already contacted me. If I do not get an answer then I move on.

Move on...you've done your part and shown him the lease. If he's interested and is a good fit, then he should have told you right then I'm IN or otherwise risk the possibility of losing his "open" spot.

Sounds like he may be ignoring you in the hopes of finding something better. You don't owe him anything and as the ramrod, you gotta do what you gotta do!

Good luck...most people don't understand what it's like to be the ramrod!
