    Need some help

Hey guys need some serious help/guidance. I AM SO LOST! I don't have any gear (not even a good knife ) and want to hunt in SHNF(closest public land). Budget is $500, so if you guys can point me in the right direction from absolutely MUST to nice to haves I would really appreciate it. I will be shopping at Academy and Bass Pro and any other recommended stores (dont know if that helps). Bow is in shop right now getting sized.

For I good lower end rifle, if thats what you are using, get a Ruger American or a Remington 770, or find something beat up but functional at a pawn shop. I would suggest a .270, but anything you can find will work. You'll have to buy factory ammo, and if you buy a mag, that will be more expensive.
Find a good full sized gerber, straight blade for a knife. So serrations because they are hard to sharpen. Should come out pretty sharp.
You'll probably need a scope, something cheap because well, its cheap. You can upgrade later.
Other than that, any required orange vest stuff. On a limited budget, I wouldnt waste money on camo, I'd just wear dull greens out of the closet. I hunt in blue jeans almost always. You'd be better off to practice more with your rifle than have a full set of scentlok camo.
Scent killer never hurts as well

Thank you very much for your help. Will be attempting to Bow hunt instead of a rifle, but if necessary I can get my hands on an old Rem700 30-06(needs a new scope tho) or I have an AR-15. What about coolers, bone saw, tree stands, deer cart, back pack/camel pack? Are there colors I should avoid? Plan on hunting hogs and deer mostly. What kind of scent killer do you recommend? Wasn't even sure what kind of license I should get. Was thinking of a Supercombo just in case someone invites me to fish or bird hunt.(*CoughCough*WinkWink*)

Climbing stand is needed in the Sam. There is a Sam Houston National Forest thread under public hunting..there are lots of great people that hunt out there , we usually meet up for lunch after hunts..........

Ok did some scouting at Wally World and took some pics of things "I" (someone that has never been out so don't laugh) thought I might purchase. Again if someone could let me know if they ever used any of these things and if y'all recommend.
