Looking for a general contractor for flooring job

    Location: Cypress (NW Houston)

Job: Me and my wife have been kicking around the idea of removing the tile and carpet from the kitchen/dining area, half bath downstairs, entry way and fireplace and replacing it with vinyl planks to replicate a wood floor look. Settled on vinyl planks after looking at the cost of wood look tiles and laminate, and considering durability since we have 2 large dogs. The total job area is probably less than 400' sq ft. I haven't measured yet, so that's just a ball park figure. Looking to hire someone that can help provide expertise, tools and wouldn't mind me getting my hands dirty and helping with demo and installation so that I can learn along the way. I feel like this is a job I could do myself but I'm lacking the confidence.

    Pics:
Just general pics of the areas I'm talking about.

    Kitchen:

    Formal dinning room:

    Entry:

    Fire place:

Hard to get a pic of the half bath because it's so tiny but can provide one on request.

If this sounds like a job for you or a sub PM me and let me know. Or text or call at 281-782-6323.

Vinyl stick together is pretty easy to do..Done several and really only need tape measure and razor knife to do it..If nobody closer chimes in I can come help..

We are about to get ours done and we are using EZ Floors. Great guys and they do great work. Couple of people in the family used them and their floors look awesome.

Is the tile ceramic? I could see tearing up ceramic to put down vinyl seems silly. Getting rid of the carpet I can see but not the tile.

Justin, I would assume it's ceramic, we've never really liked the tile, I would love to put down wood look tile personally, but the cost for the tile alone is around 1000-1200 dollars. Vinyl planks are the next best thing really considering the fact that we have two dogs and kids who love to spill things.

x2 on EZ Floors. We used the one on Barker Cypress and 290 and were very happy with them.

That ceramic is a lot more durable than vinyl planks. The hard part is going to be removing the ceramic tile if it was installed right.

Yeah that's kinda why I was looking at a GC or sub, I'm not sure if I could do the surface prep and get it nice and level.

I believe your dogs are going to be rough on the vinyl. Good luck with it.

Why don't you just stain the concrete? My BIL works in Houston and does decorative concrete staining. PM if interested

Bill, I hope that's not the case. The newer luxury vinyl planks are supposed to be water proof and scuff resistant. But only time will tell.

Lloyd, tossed the idea out to my wife, no go.
