Is there such a thing as too many miles on a vehicle?

I just depends on how well maintained they are and by who, we purchased a VW passat with 150,000 miles on it from and older German gentleman. He had receipts for every car wash! Talk about clean and meticulous. Kids car, but is sure is fun to drive.

I just traded my 2001 Dodge 1500 with 180,000 miles on it for a new one, and plan on keeping it for another 14 years. If I can get 14 years out of every vehicle I consider it a good deal. All comes down to how well the vehicle was maintained
      Good luck

I bought my 02' 7.3L with the plan of driving it until the wheels feel off. Then I'll put them back on and sell it for decent money. 230k + and only one wheel has fallen of so far but I was t ready to put it down just yet.

When I was shopping for a diesel in 2006 they had on the lot an immaculate 02' 7.3.

No gooseneck/fifth wheel hitch, looked and ran great. It had 164k on it when I drove it off the lot. I rolled 290k on it when I sold it to a buddy. No major issues

He sold it at 340k to another guy, still going strong

My current truck now had 90k on it when I brought it and I'm at 185k now. Gonna drive it for another year and buy a new daily driver and keep this for a hunting truck

I won't buy a high mileage vehicle 30,000 or less on gas and 50,000 or less on a diesel.

I'm glad our visit was brought a little bit of thought provoking.lol Unfortunately I am in the lower crust in life and will never be able to come close to affording a "newer" vehicle so I am hoping this last one I got lasts me my life time. Good thing I'm not planning on a long life time!lol I was raised old school, buy the best you can then take excellent care of it. I don't know how the vehicles of today can be mechanically better than the old days cause their bodies certainly aren't better but I guess they are. I just wish the trucks of today could do what our 65 1/2 ton Chevy with the 6cylinder could do back in the day hauling stuff around. We could pack 4 of our 1200# holstiens in the trailer and go anywhere we needed to with all the power and weight handling ability to boot. Up hill, down hill, around the hill or through the hill, made no difference. Aww the good ole days!

I can agree with that. thus the reason I pay CASH, most individuals and all dealers are not going to let u walk away over $2-5,000.

That has been my range also.

I bought my '00 Cummins with 180k on it, has 223k on it now. Love the truck and plan on driving it well into the future. We bought my wife's suburban with 55k on it for $22k. Sticker was around $45k, Z71 4x4, etc. It is paid off and has 110k on it and we plan on keeping it at least another 5yrs. I hate vehicle payments and plan on going as long as possible without one.

I'll drive one I like until the repair and upkeep cost more than payments

I've looked off and on for even a high mileage clean f150 just for a knock around work truck. To keep mileage off my $$$$ to replace SuperDuty...and save on $4 a gallon diesel + upkeep during off season...but #$%^& they want 5 digits for a f150 with 150K on it...I can buy lots of fuel for that. So In last month, I put new tires, bilstein shocks and "tuned" my truck. Better than new...no payments

Wow. Low mileage right there. Mine is a 2000 f350 with 245,000 miles. Had to spend $1800 on front end work this year but sure beats a monthly truck payment. Plus it's all new under there now.

All the hard bodies just seem to run forever not as many things can go wrong I'd guess?

I just got rid of a 94 GMC 2500 4x4 5 speed. 246,*** miles on it. It would flat run. Do one nasty burn out with 33" tires. Last summer pull started a 1954 D8 dozer. I think there is no such thing as "to many miles" if maintenance is kept up and when something does go out it's fix right.
