    Best saw for field dressing/butchering?

What saw would be the best? Wyoming saw, a butchers bone saw?

I find that a cordless sawzall works wonders and also a handy tool elsewhere around the lease

Why do you need a saw?

I use a regular hacksaw with a coarse blade, and take it apart after to clean it up. To cut off hooves, cut vertebrae in neck.

Yep. Sawzall with the right blade will make a feller throw rocks at a butcher saw.

I'm all about the Sawzall, a long 10TPI blade works like a champ.

If I forget it however, a back saw works wonders. That is what Dad has always used, and he can make short work of quartering a deer with it.

18v DeWalt reciprocating saw works the best.

It was like re-inventing the wheel when we figured this out

This is what I use for hooves and vertebrae. Best money I've spent for processing.

Me too. That and a sharp knife is all you need.

18V Dewalt sawzall here... Don't leave home without it when going to the lease.

A hatchet or camp ax work well. Remove quarters. Hold leg against tree or stump. Whack. The loppers work good too.
