    Redfield range finding reticle?

I bought this rifle today that has an old school redfield 4-12x40 on it. I'm not familiar with the way it is setup. Can anyone explain to me how this reticle works

Is that something you're looking at through the scope? (Just right of bottom sub-tension) normally a reticle with the capability to ( help you do the math to find, knowin the size if the target at 100 yards) range a target has hashes that are measured either in minutes or mils. I don't see anything in there that would lead me to believe you could range a target. Anyone else?

The yardage marker starts out at 600 and works it's way down to 200. It's confusing to me.

We'll I would right a long story on how I think it works but I can't think of anything. That what Google is for I'm sure there is a you tube video on it somewhere

I have googled it but have only came up with the new accu reticle. This scope is from the late 70's early 80's. Whole different type of set up.

            Yes.

You are supposed to put the deer between those top two lines, one on his back, the other on his brisket. You will need to urn the power dial up or down to get him to fit in there. Then just look at the yardage as indicated. I have that same rangefinder on an old Redfield, although I have never tested it.
