Ok, I'm surprised they have the same range as a compound, but that's why I asked. Appreciate the info. Still gonna get pops one anyway, so he will just have to keep it within pretty close range.

Good man. Keep us posted on "ya'lls" new toy.

By the way - if you dont have one picked out yet and budget isnt too big of a problem, check out the new excaliburs. They are narrower than the previous models and the beauty of it is that it is a recurve style so only one string to change, which you can do yourself. They also have improved their triggers big time. Even make custom drop in triggers if you wish. They are really accurate. I have a ten point turbo xlt II due to the narrow limbs but next one will be an a new excal for the reasons I mentioned. Also hard to go wrong with slick tricks. I have had better blood trails and shorter tracks with those than the spitfire edge????? Still at a loss on that one.

I can hit a target fine at 70 yds with my compound but would never try that with a deer. That being said, I would keep the same ranges with the crossbow, preferably no more than 30 yds but would try out to 40 if conditions were right. Wife uses a crossbow and I have her set ups set at 20 yds.

My dad shot one at 55 yards this past year. It went about 50 yards.

Mind when I reed the OP. He did kill that pronghorn at over 90 yards. But I flat out don't agree with it. Treat as a compound. And what he is comfortable shooting at.

35 yards max. They will shoot further like any bow but not effectively.

Do some youtube searches. Me personally, all my setups are about 18 yards. But I know some people that shoot further than 35.
