    Rock chip/chunk

Alright, I'm looking for advice or past experiences. My wife got a
Brand new car in November 2013, it's a 2014 Buick enclave. 3 weeks after buying it we were driving down 59s and noticed a cement mixing truck spilling out chunks so we. A led off a ways and got over and tried to get away from it. Well, a huge rock took a chunk of glass from the windshield. I immediately pulled up next to the truck and took a photo of the truck number and company name. I then noted the time, date and location of the incident. I contacted the operations manager and he gave me directions to get 3 quotes. So I did and there dragging there feet and not returning any calls. What should I do. Thanks

I have heard if its smaller than a quarter and has not started to run it can be fixed.

I figured there sign on the back of the truck gave them an out? "Do not follow *** feet, not responsible for damages" Hope they fix it.

My insurance company replaces my windshield for a small "co pay". It costs much less than trying to squeeze blood from a turnip.

What is the company name my family has been in the concrete company business for 20 plus years. I wouldn't doubt it at all if I know who they are and can help you.

yeah i'm not thinking the company that launched the object is liable. Insurance should cover it with less trouble.

I have an aggregate hauling company and believe me we have bought a lot of windshields over the years.....bottom line is if it came off of their truck they are liable, if it flies up from the road they aren't. Don't let 'em stall, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I usually go with my first impression of the caller...if they are a jerk I'll most likely tell them to call their insurance, if they are civil and I know that our truck was hauling something that could've broken the windshield, I'll set up the appointment for them and pay for the repair. Over the years we have probably have bought many more than we needed to but I sleep better at night.

I bet that must be a real hard thing to keep from happening.

This happens to me a lot! If it hasn't started running your insurance will probably pay to have it fixed. If it has started running and it's less than the length of a dollar bill it can be filled to stop the run. Contact your insurance claims dept and they probably have a company in mind that will come to you to fix it. This will probably be less aggravating than going through the cement company.

Several years ago,a Top Way truck in Newark lauched a rock and it cracked my windshield. I followed him to his yard and went inside, the driver immediatly launched into "we are not responsible" blah, blah blah. I ignored him and asked to speak with the boss. He simply asked his assistant to give me the number of their glass guy and that was it.

I stress attention to detail to my drivers.....a quick walk around after they dump and get any loose stuff off the trailer makes big difference, not to mention law requires tarping now if hauling "loose material".....basically anything that can blow or bounce out.
Really gets my goat though when people say "it came up off the road a broke my windshield", so I ask, if you had met a car and they kicked up a rock and broke your windshield who would you have called? They don't have their phone number stenciled on the door. I had a lady once call and swear that we had broken her windshield, I asked if anyone was killed. She said no the rock just broke my windshield, little did she know we were hauling building stone that weighed in the neighborhood of 100 + lbs each...I said lady if one of the rocks came off that truck someone would be dead. She hung up.

                          Sorry for the hijack!

While waiting on the operations manager to get back with me, during the freeze spells the chip has ran across the entire windshield. I contacted him and made him aware of this
