    China Berry Wood

Anyone ever use this for firewood? I know where a bunch is stacked up but I don't know if it's any good or not. Some wood, oak/mesquite etc is better than others obviously. Just wondering.

Not sure I would cook with it. Pretty sure the berries are poisonous.

Not to cook with, just to burn in the fireplace.

Guess if you have nothing else you could try it.

I had some persimmon one time that I decided to burn. That stuff popped real bad and blew a coal out on me about the size of a big marble. Last time I burned that

China berries are good for making canes. Their roots turn at ninety degrees right under the ground when they are about walking stick size.

I have seen deer camp out under the China Berry trees on our place, maybe the berries do not effect them.

not great wood, in comparison to oaks/nut woods/elm, but if it is all you have, and it will fall into the trailer, it isn't bad. at least it won't creosote up your chimney.

I googled around a bit and found allot of info on deer using them as rubs and eating the leaves but also found a bunch about the berries being toxic to mammals. I do allot of invasive removal for a living and have noticed allot of rubs on China berry. Interesting stuff. Maybe they are like a pig pole to deer????

Those berries will break the skin if you shoot'em at your buddy out of a slingshot...
