    Modular Hog Trap

Wanting to build some modular hog traps that can be taken apart for easy hauling and moving around and wanted to see if there was any interest out there for these?

I threw one together a while back and have it at my place and it is pretty handy when I go to move it around because I can easily take it down and move it by myself. Keep in mind, this one is kinda ugly as I used left over material.

    I like that idea.

How do you secure the panels together to set it up?

I have tabs on the inside/outside of each corner that bolt together with 1/2" bolts and there is a piece of tubing that bolts to the inside of the trap from one side to the other that has the pulley for the trip wire.

I was thinking of building one that can be handled without any tools. Some kind of a heavy duty pin system. Just need to get my hands on that and see how it comes together.

level of interest depends on cost. The two I have at the ranch work good and are not that hard for the RH to move around I don't think.

I was thinking of a 4X4X8 being around $275-$300 depending on spring door or guillotine stile door.

Instead of the tabs and bolts I built one with pipe and a long piece of round stake... Kinda like a big door hinge... Easier to mess with than bolts. Just line em up and stick the stake (pin) in. When you take it apart, pull 4 stakes and you have 4 pieces.

I've made a pin system before you weld segments of square tubing on the ends of the walls then run a piece of rebar thru em and you can use long enough pieces that they double as stakes.

Whats the deal with the burlap on the gate?

As far as a connecting the panels together....
2 pieces of small pipe, and a some round bar as a pin. Weld a short piece of chain from the pin to the panel to keep from loosing the pin. Lots of utility trailer builders secure their ramps this way.

Had an issue with trapping deer so built a trap with no top that was 4' tall and had hogs jumping out so a fellow member here recommended that I use the burlap and it works like a charm. No more trapped deer. Have pics of the deer walking up to it but they would not go through and the hogs had no issue.

Does the cover over the door help with anything, or make them less spooked about it?
