Cheapest way to ship bow to Alaska?

My Z7 just sold on eBay to some guy in Alaska. I put United States shipping in my ad but I guess technically that is U.S. soil. Dang it. I'm betting its gonna be high. I only allowed for $30 to cover shipping charges. Any suggestions? Will be shipping decked out bow in soft case in box. Thanks

    Break it down.

    Smaller package.

I had the same thing happen to me with my switchback. I sent it "snail mail" with USPS. It took about 10 days to get there but at least it didnt cost me my left testikle!

I should have known better. I sold a muzzleloader a while back that the same dang thing happened. As for breaking it down, lol I couldn't do that to the guy. I could however "Ask" him to cover the difference if it's too high. Right?

USPS would be your best bet.

Tell him it was for Continental USA. If he balks then you negotiate.

I can see the buyers point when you represented United States shipping without the exclusion of Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, USVI, etc. They saw that representation and probably bid on the product. The buyer could complain to eBay if you try to charge more in freight and they would have a valid case.

I haven't heard of "Space A" which is "space available" so the package goes when there is a light load and not a priority. I assume like HotWire where they look at a sale is better than an empty room, you would get a better rate.

Unless you specified the lower 48, I would get it shipped according to your add and as soon as possible.

If the bow and case would fit in a box that a new bow comes in, ship it that way. You can go to any bow shop and they should have a box or two. I've done this in the past.

If it won't fit in a bow box, that's on odd shape. I'd go to Home Depot and buy some boxes made for packing your house and construct a box around it.

I'd suggest USPS. I did have a guy in rural Canada request that I ship FedEx once. He told me that their mail system is horribly slow and not real careful with packages. I had no problem with that but I get a huge corporate discount with FedEx.

USPS is your best bet. When you go with the bow all ready to be shipped, ask them which is the cheapest way & they will tell you.

In my old job I used to ship a lot of gold and USPS was the cheapest, safest ways. Never lost a shipment. I used to send it out Registered mail.
